We treated this thursday as “little friday”, which means we partied untill midnight We started out having dinner all together at the school. A “Pot luck party” was hosted there, which means that every family had to bring a dish for the buffet. It was a good idea, because we had a chance to see all the other families.

After the dinner we went to a hawaii-theme bar called Kahalala or something like that. We had all sorts of exotic drinks each type of drink in a different type of exotic looking glass. We are looking forward to the party tonight, because the spanish guys say we’re going to party all night long

This wednesday we went to Parc Güell, which is a beautiful park designed by Gaudi. It is situated at the top of a mountain and has the most incredible view!

After walking to the center of the park the teachers allowed us to walk around freely and experience the park. The boys (including Jared from Pingree, Boston) went to climb the mountain and when we claimed the top it felt like all of Barcelona lay at our feet.

We  walked around in the park for about an hour and saw the beautiful design Gaudi had drawn.

In the afternoon I had a 1,5 hour siesta, because we had been walking so much around in the park. Our plan for the day was to go watch flamingo in the evening, so at half past eight we were once again standing on La Rambla trying to find our to “Tarantos” where we were to watch flamingo. We were all very excited about it, and the show lived up to all of our expectations. The instruments were introduced one by one and they all complimented each other very nicely. It’s difficult to describe the sensation, but it was very overwhelming to sit in the little dark room and watch such an agressive dance.

This tuesday we visited the gothic quarters of Barcelona. The arcitecture here is very beautiful and impressive. We visited the Cathedral of Barcelona and saw the garden as well as the crypts. The cathedral is being renovated, so we couldn’t get a good picture of the frontside of it, but the part of it we could see was nice.

Later that day we went indoorkarting on this great and very long track. A lap took around 40 seconds, but that’s because the karts could go extremely fast! Sitting half a meter from the ground 50 km/h is extremely fast

We all liked it very much, and maybe I did most of all, because I won the race Sweat-dripping from the intense action Henrik, Andreas and I gathered in the bar for a cold beer. We had some time before Marta (Sergios older sister, who arrived as #2 in the race) were ready to drive us home in the BMW. Like monday we sang and clapped to flamingo-ish songs all the way home to “les corts” (our neighbourhood). The karting trip was great fun :D

Monday was our first day at school, so we went for a guided walk around the place. First we went to their cantine and had breakfeast. Then we visited some of the very youngest students at the school – they were only 3-4 years old (but very cute)! Then we walked on through the halls looking into the classes through the windows, untill we arrived at the gym. The gym is really huge and is open to the public after school finishes. There’s a swimming pool, 10*25 metres, a fitness room with more than 20 machines, 2 short courts for playing squash, table tennis, table football and of course two gyms for playing football.

In the afternoon we went to see the Sagrada Familia. It was absolutely impossible to capture the greatness of the structure on a single foto, but this is the front and the backside of the building. It’s supposed to be finished by 2026, but some say it’s never going to be finished, because the project started a hundred years ago. One of the fascinating things about the cathedral is, that it has been built without government funding private donations and the entrance fee is paying for the construction.

We had planned to go karting in the evening, but we ended up postponing it for tomorrow. We were too many to go by one car so the spanish students went by train. It was about a 20 minute drive and we spent that time singing along on flamingo-songs. We had a good time clapping and learning the words of the songs. In one of the songs we identified “la luna loca”, which means the crazy moon, but Marta (“my” big sister) was just laughing it us, because it didn’t actually say that. Anyway, we sang and had a good a time.

Every day we are attenting to school at 8.00 where we start your day in the computer room. Heir we are preparing a powerpoint about Denmark, your city and your school.

Yesterday at 9.00 we visted the class 2A/2D, where some of our hostes were in. We were going to discues life in Barcelona and life in Denmark – what is different and what is similary? It was very interesting to hear what they were doing in their spare time.

The school system is almost the same, but the big different is, that education is free in Denmark, also at the university. If you are a student and over 18 in Denmark the goverment will give you student support in form of money. Its not a lot – only a support.

Us from Denmark are attenting at a business college, where we studie for 3 year in the agegroup 16-20. Some can of course be a bit older, but it is that level.

That means we dont go to school with 3 year olds like they do heir in Barcelona. That also means there are a lot more kids here at Col·legi Pare Manyanet - about 1200 pupils.

To day we are going to the Parque Güell. It is a park designed by Gaudí, who was inspired by the nature and the sea. We have also seen Casa Mila with is a beutiful building – very special!

At tuesday we went too see the old part of Barcelona, it was very interesting and very very beautiful. Here are some pictures of it …

Now we are in Barcelona, and having alot of fun We are now half way in our journey in Spain. Every day is more exciting than the other. And we are getting more and more tired…

Tina and me (Marta and Bego) are spending alot of time together, because our hosts are best friends. So that is just perfect! HIGH FIVE!

Yesterday we woke up, too early, and went to school. At school, we were teaching Begos class in english. We talked with them about the difference between Spain and Denmark. It was nice, and Tina was chategorized miss Crazy by the Spanish students :D

Yesterday we also went to “Gothic Park” which is old buldings – very pretty.. Afterwards we went to Las Ramblas where there was a lot of people and a very strange/klammo/different old man yelling bad thing to us..

At 2 o’clock we met with our little spanish friends, and we all went to have lunch together at a mall. We all had Frikadelle with Carlsberg and kartoffelsalat on the side.. Afterwards all the Danish & Spanish people went to the mall to shop, but Me, Tina and our hosts met Ronaldinho, he asked us to come to his house to have siesta.. but we decided to sunbath in the park in front of the mall. It was HOT weather and we got Icecream. much better than some Ronaldinho.. mmm… We got to know our hosts alot better, incl. the strange/wild sides of them!

After eating in the evening we went together with our families to a sightseeing in Barcelona by night! It was a very great experience, but we were very tired, so it was hard to keep on moving…..

To day we are going to visit Gaudi’s home in the mountains. Bego, Marta and Vanessa are going with us on this trip, so it could not get any better!

Yesterday Anna and I made dinner for her family. They had ask me if I could make something danish for them, so they could taste what danish food tastes like. So I made FRIKADELLER, and some bread with patatoes on it, and of course salad, and they like it very much or least they said so .. 

Me and Albert’s family went to Tibidabo Sunday morning. It’s one of Barcelona’s two mountains. On the mountain there is a big radio tower. From there you have a very nice view. On sunny days you can see as far as Mallorca, but when I went up in the tower I couldn’t see more than just Barcelona because the weather didn’t allow me too see more.

After we came down we went to the harbor and had a very nice lunch. We ordered a lot of seafood, but also a paella! A paella is rice and shrimps mixed together. It was soooooooo good. I ate half of the paella and also had a tiramisu for dessert.

Afterwards we went home and changed for the Barcelona game. F.C. Barcelona vs. Viva Real played Sunday evening and I was very exited about the game. Unfortunately the game ended 1-2, but at least a Danish player scored. This was a great day in Barcelona.

After a horrible fly in the airplane and a rough hour in bus (without cell-phone signal) we arrived to Barcelona. Our hosts were waiting for us at the school, and after a warm welcome we were presented our new homes. I live with Borja, the funny guy of Barcelona.

As soon as I left my baggage, we went on a nightclub called Up&Down. I have never bought a more expensive Jack D & Cola before… 11 euro for a single drink… Yeah, welcome to Barcelona…The next day we slept for several hours, but we had to be up by 1 pm. We were going on Borja´s grandma’s in the mountains. We were Borja, Sergio, Jacob and me. As we arrived his grandma, we were walking around the area.I have never seen a bigger place before. They even had their own church… We were there all afternoon playing tennis and basketball on their courts.

As we got home in the evening from a little trip to a “grande” mall (Meremagnum), we were going to the stadium of Barcelona. The match was between FC Barcelona and Vila Real, but unfortunately Vila Real won the match 2-1, with the Danish scoring player Jon Dahl Tomasson . After the match we went home to our hosts, and went to sleep.- Great day in Barcelona.
