Spending sunday in Borjas forest

This Sunday has most of all been a day of sports. Sergio and I started out “early” at 11.30 – still tired from the party yesterday, by walking to Borjas house.

Saturday we partied at “up & down”

We met Andreas and Borja, who were almost ready to go and soon after we drove off to meet Borjas family in their “mountain house”. The house is situated in the forest “Can Cata”, which is a 100 hectar forest owned by Borjas family. After a short walk around the area Andreas and I teamed up to try and beat the Sergio and Borja in Basketball, “Fronton” (Squash) and Tennis, but failed miserably every time.

We had so much chicken for lunch we almost could not eat the dessert consisting of several cakes and some white cream called Nata. We were celebrating two birthdays, which had been during the week. But that was not the reason why the whole family had shown up in the forest house that day. It’s a tradition, that they all meet there every Sunday for lunch in the forest.

One of the things that surprised me was how the “happy birthday –song” was ended – the grandmother held the tune like an opera singer for an extra 15 seconds and we all aplaused. Obviously she was good at it, but wether she had been a singer or if she just practised at birthdays I never knew.

Maremagnum

Later we went to the Maremagnum shopping mall.

And to the “Camino” (the stadium) and watched Barcelona vs. Vila Real. The stadium and the game was very impressive even though Barca lost :(

After the game I was very tired. It had been a long and exciting day, so I slept seconds after putting my head on the pillow.

Election in Spain

The day after our arrival there is an election in Spain.

We are excited to follow and see how the spanish population act on an electionday. In fall 2007 we had an elecetion in Denmark and it is going to be funny to watch the differences between a danish and spanish election.

The polls shows that the keen competition are PSOE against PP – which party are going to win the Prime Minister post? We must wait and see till sunday…

To those who didn’t knew, but acutally take an interest in the election… (Yes.. I’m a nerd in social studies…!) Glossary when you reach the bottom ;-)

As in 2004, the govering PSOE will be led by Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. He was the only PSOE candidate who sought the nomination and he was therefore proclaimed candidate back in November 2007.

In Catalonia thier federated party PSC operate as a part of the PSOE’s-ticket.

The PP will be led by Mariano Rajoy, former vice Prime Minister. he was nominated as candiate by the National Board of Directors of the party in September 2007. PP will run in all the constituencies with its “sister party” the UNP acting as a part of the PP ticket in Navarre.

The main thing at this election is economy. PSOE want to remove property tax while PP suggest to reduce taxes and raise the minimum for income tax.

Glossary:

- PSOE in spanish = Partido Socialista Obrero Español (in english = Spanish Socialists Worker’s Party)

- PSC in catalan(ish?) = Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (in english = Socialists’ Party of Catalonia)

- PP in spanish = Partido Popular (in english =Peoples Party)

- UPN in spanish = Unión del Pueblo Navarro (in english = Navarresse People’s Union)

How it all started

The exchange between our two schools started in September 2007 when a group of 12 students and two teachers from Col legi Pare Manyanet came to  Århus. The programme we had put together was a mixture of classes at Århus Købmandsskole, Viemosevej and outings in Århus. Everybody was accommodated in private homes.

From 8 to 15 March we (12 students and two teachers from Aarhus) will visit our friends in  Barcelona  and we are looking very much forward to seeing everybody again.
